Luke Durkin
is a Peace Corps Volunteer teaching English at the Kirovsky District Gymnasium in Textilchik. He arrived in Donetsk in January 2004, and will remain until December 2005. He is from Chicago, Illinois, and recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He has also spent some time studying in Beijing, China.
At university Luke studied Linguistics and Chinese. He still maintains an interest in the study of languages, language policy, etc. He has studied Russian for almost a year now, and will soon begin studying Russian Sign Language and Ukrainian. He is always happy to have a conversation!
